Marc Zabeau, Ph.D.

Marc Zabeau was born in Lier, Belgium, in 1949. He studied biology at the University of Gent, Belgium and obtained his doctorate in genetics in 1974.

After having worked for 10 years in renowned international research institutes, he moved to the biotech industry, as an entrepreneur. After leading Plant Genetic Systems, N.V. and founding three successful companies (Helix CV, KeyGene N.V. and Genscope, Inc.) Marc moved back to Academia. He presently combines the position of director of the Technology Transfer Office at the university of Gent with continued entrepreneurship in innovative biotech companies.
